(FootballStL) -- St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson says his quadriceps injury is getting better but he is not certain if he will play against the New York Giants on Monday night.

“We have an outside chance of going on Monday,” Jackson said.  “We want to be smart.”

Jackson will get an extra day of rest because of the game taking place on a Monday rather than on Sunday.  Despite the primetime stage that will be set for the Rams and Giants, Jackson will be upset if he has to miss any football game...on a Monday or not.

“If it was just a Sunday regular game,” Jackson said.  “It would still kill me just as much as it being a Monday night game.”

Jackson is no stranger to playing through pain.  He had no regrets after playing in six games with a herniated disk a couple of seasons ago.

He admits that he knows he will have to play not at 100% during the season, but understands there are still 15 more games to play this season.

“We know it’s early in the season,” Jackson said.  “We feel we have to be 100% on our way to Baltimore and we got to weigh that option.”
