ST. LOUIS (FootballStL) -- It is hard to win football games without producing a single turnover and that is what the Rams haven’t been able to accomplish in its last five games.
The Rams have been able to knock the ball free several times, but have not been able to recover it. It is something that Jeff Fisher says the team has been working on each week during practice.
The bounces just aren’t going the Rams way.
“You win football games when you turn it over,” Fisher said. “Balls are flying all over the place. They strip-sack and they pick it up and run it 50 yards. We strip-sack and it falls on (Mark) Sanchez’s lap.”
It is especially frustrating considering the team really hasn’t turned the ball over too much either during the stretch.
“But I don’t think I’ve been in a stretch before that long. And the other thing about it, it’s not like we’re turning the ball over five or six times a game on offense. We are just not getting the takeaways to get the extra drives.”
The team has posted a 0-4-1 record during the five-game stretch. This week’s opponent, the Arizona Cardinals, have lost 7-of-15 fumbles and have a +7 turnover margin.
