DALLAS - Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray made a name for himself in 2011 as a rookie when he thrashed the Rams for a franchise record 253 yards rushing.  Two years later he might have been able to top that had he actually needed to play the entire game.

Murray - who was allowed to rest during the end of the Cowboys big 31-7 win over the Rams - “settled” for a mere 175 yards and a touchdown this time around.

“He’s a hell of a player,” defensive end Chris Long said. “If you don’t execute against a guy like that he’s going to test the edges of the defense and that’s on everybody, not just one position group or anything.”

“He was really slashing us,” defensive tackle Michael Brockers said.  “The offensive line did a great job of opening up gaps where he could run through and we just did a horrible job of tackling.  He had a lot of yards after contact and we just have to get better at that.”

Rams QB Sam Bradford was a college teammate of Murray at Oklahoma and has seen days like this too many times from the talented running back.

“Ya, it’s a little frustrating,” Bradford quipped.  “I’m not really sure why he has to do it against us but he played really well.”

The poor performance against the run is a tad surprising considering the Rams held the Falcons to just 36 yards on 16 carries last week.
