ST. LOUIS, Mo. (FootballSTL) -- When they signed wide receiver Kenny Britt as a free agent in the offseason, the Rams were hoping he would leave behind his off the field problems and develop into a starting wide receiver. With the Rams preseason opener coming up on Friday, it appears Britt has done just that. He’s listed as a first stringer on the depth chart.
“I started off pretty well,” said Britt. “There are some things I have to clean up. I’m feeling young again. I’m feeling healthy and I’m excited about that.”
Head Coach Jeff Fisher had Britt when both were with the Tennessee Titans, and likes what he’s seen from him this summer. “Kenny’s had a great camp,” said Fisher. “He’s made some big plays. We want to have him in there when Sam’s in the game.”
Sam Bradford isn’t likely to play at all on Friday night against the Saints. Fisher said Britt will likely play the first quarter. Britt says he’s excited for the chance to play with Bradford this season.
“I’ve never had a quarterback that accurate in my career,” said Britt. “I’m excited to see what we can do.”
Britt should give the Rams offensive more attitude than it has had in recent years. He’s big trash talker and believes that helps his game.
“Some guys like to talk a lot out there, and that’s me. I’m a talker. It throws the db’s off a little bit. They’re like more into me talking too much, and then I can focus on the play at hand. That’s something I like to do.”
