(FootballSTL) – Rams quarterback Sam Bradford had arguably two of his best games last season when playing the eventual NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers.

That sentiment was recently echoed by 49ers safety Donte Whitner when participating in the UK-based Tuesday Morning Football podcast. (You can listen to the whole podcast by clicking here).

Whitner made the complimentary comments after being asked about his preparations to face NFC West quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Carson Palmer in the upcoming season.

“Don’t forget about Sam Bradford,” Whitner said. “Sam Bradford had two excellent games against us, actually beat us once and tied us another time. That is a blemish that was on our record and he is going to be feeling good coming in against us this year.”

Bradford’s 2012 stats against the Niners gel with Whitner’s comments.

In a 24-24 tie at San Francisco on November 11, Bradford went 26-39 for 275 and two touchdowns, good for a 104.1 passer rating.

While he didn’t have a touchdown in the teams’ second meeting, Bradford was still good enough to secure the victory while throwing for a 221 yards for an 81.2 passer rating.

One has to think with the added weapons in the offseason, the Oklahoma native will look to improve on those stats in 2013.

That may lead to more players like Whitner stepping forward and heaping praise on the unheralded Rams signal caller.
