CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Ty Margenthaler, an assistant at Wisconsin for the past five years, is the new women's basketball coach at Southeast Missouri State University.

The hiring was announced Thursday. Margenthaler replaces John Ishee, whose contract was not renewed. The Redhawks were 8-21 overall and 4-14 in the Ohio Valley Conference last season.

Margenthaler played under his father, Jack, at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, graduating in 1997. Before coaching at Wisconsin, he was an assistant at Bradley from 2000 to 2006.

Jack Margenthaler coached 15 seasons at Western Illinois University, then 11 seasons at SIU-E. Ty Margenthaler's brother, Matt, is head coach at Minnesota State.
