MARYVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- Northwest Missouri State University says head football coach Scott Bostwick died Sunday. He was 49.

The university said in a release that Bostwick died in Maryville of an apparent heart attack.

He was named Northwest Missouri's head football coach in December, replacing longtime coach head coach Mel Tjeerdsma (CHERCH-ma), who retired.

The university said no other details were available.
