COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- NFL star Justin Smith of the San Francisco 49ers and Texas Rangers infielder Ian Kinsler head the latest class entering the University of Missouri’s athletics hall of fame.
Smith grew up in Holts Summit and played at Mizzou from 1998 through 2000 before turning pro after his junior year. He has started 182 straight games for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Niners and is a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
Kinsler played just one season at Missouri but led the baseball team in 2003 to the first of seven straight NCAA tournament appearances while batting .335.
Others who will be honored at the Feb. 1 induction ceremony in Columbia are volleyball player and track athlete Christi Myers; football offensive lineman James Taylor; and tennis player Helen Wilson.
