MLB All-Star voting ends tonight

11:18 AM CDT on Thursday, July 2, 2009

(KMOV) -- It’s not too late to make sure plenty of Cardinals are in the starting lineup at the All-Star game at Busch Stadium in just 12 days.  Voting ends at 11:59 p.m. tonight and fans can vote online up to 25 times from one email address.   Click here to vote.

Fan voting determines starting lineups for position players.

Albert Pujols appears to be locked in to start at first base – and with a .337 average, 30 home runs and 77 RBI’s, why shouldn’t he? Cardinals fans should still vote for him, however, to assure he gets the most votes overall.  Phillies second baseman Chase Utley is his biggest challenger for that title.

The Cardinals Yadier Molina had a slight lead over the Braves Brian McCann to start at catcher as of Monday.  Molina will need some more votes from fans so Pujols won’t be the only Cardinal in the starting lineup.

Some pundits think Cardinals pitchers Chris Carpenter and Ryan Franklin deserve to make the team.  However, fans don’t vote for pitchers, so they will have to be chosen by the manager of the N.L. team, Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel.
