COLUMBIA, Missouri -- Missouri basketball senior Marcus Denmon has been named a Second Team All-American by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

Denmon led the Tigers in scoring this season with 17.6 points per game - third in the Big 12 - while averaging just over 5 rebounds and 2 assists a game.

The US Basketball Writers Association annually honors 10 All-Americans, five on both the first and second teams.

Demon has climbed to sixth on Missouri's career scoring list with 1,755 points and needs just five points to pass former center Arthur Johnson.

He's the first player to receive All-America honors since Melvin Booker in 1993-1994.
