UNDATED (AP) — Following last night's 3-2, 13-inning win in the first game of the National League Championship Series, the Cardinals are set to face the Dodgers in Game 2 this afternoon. The Cards got the win when Carlos Beltran hit a game-winning hit in the 13th. He drove in all three Cards runs.

BOSTON (AP) — The first game of the American League Championship Series is tonight in Boston. The Red Sox eliminated Tampa Bay in the preceding round of play while the Tigers knocked off the Athletics. Today's starting pitching has Jon Lester of the Sox facing Anibal (AH'-nih-bahl) Sanchez.

UNDATED (AP) — Three games are on tap today matching two ranked schools in college football. In the Pac 12, second-ranked Oregon is in Seattle playing No. 16 Washington, while seventh-ranked Georgia is home to No. 25 Missouri, and in another all-SEC game, 10th-ranked LSU is home to No. 17 Florida.

SUZUKA, Japan (AP) — Mark Webber won the pole today for tomorrow's Japanese Grand Prix. He finished just ahead of Red Bull teammate and three-time defending series champion Sebastian Vettel. McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton was third fastest.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — American Lexi Thompson is the leader after three rounds of the LPGA's event in Malaysia. She shot a 5-under 66 today to take a three-shot lead over second round leader Ilhee Lee. The 18-year-old American had five birdies in her bogey-free round and stands 17-under for the tournament.
