BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Si Yajie of China took the lead after the preliminaries of 10-meter platform diving at the world championships.

Si turned in a solid list of five dives Wednesday at the scenic pool atop Montjuic, consistently earning marks ranging from 7.0 to 8.5 for a total score of 360.35 points.

Olympic bronze medalist Pandelela Pamg of Malaysia is second with 351.05. Chen Ruolin of China, the two-time defending Olympic champion on the tower, led after the second and third rounds before a wobbly dive knocked her back to third. She totaled 350.60.

Juliia Prokopchuk of Ukraine is fourth, followed by Amelia Cozad of the United States.

The top 18 advance to the semifinals, which will be held Tuesday afternoon. Brittany Broben of Australia, the Olympic silver medalist, barely qualified in 17th.
