The U.S. is about to debut its newest bobsled.

A two-man sled that the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation has teamed with BMW of North America to develop has been cleared for competition, and will make its first run in a World Cup race in Igls, Austria on Saturday.

A pair of Olympic four-man gold medalists, Steven Holcomb and Curt Tomasevicz, will be in the sled when it debuts.

BMW Creative Director Michael Scully says his company is thrilled to see the sled "finally race" after the long development process. The sled passed a technical inspection on Friday.

The USBSF has hoped that this sled could be a major boost to medal hopes for the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
