UNDATED (AP) — Three Top 25 men's basketball teams take the court at noon Eastern, all against Carolina teams. Seventh-ranked Ohio State is home to UNC-Asheville, No. 15 Georgetown hosts Western Carolina and No. 21 North Carolina is entertaining East Carolina.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The college bowl season gets started this afternoon with two of the nation's best scoring offenses taking on two of the nation's worst scoring defenses. Arizona meets Nevada in the New Mexico Bowl at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Both teams are 7-5 this season.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies are adding pitchers. A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press that the Phils have agreed on a one-year contract with starter John Lannan and a two-year deal with reliever Mike Adams. Lannan spent his first six big league seasons with the Washington Nationals, but spent most of the year in Triple-A. Adams made 61 appearances for Texas this year.

MALELANE, South Africa (AP) — Charl Schwartzel (SHAR'-uhl SHWORTS'-uhl) has a 10-stroke lead after three rounds of the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa. He shot an 8-under 64 today, birdying five of his first eight holes and four more on the back nine to sit at 21 under. The 2011 Masters champion won the Thailand Golf Championship just last week.

VAL GARDENA, Italy (AP) — American skier Steven Nyman took advantage of changing conditions for an improbable win in the World Cup downhill at Val Gardena, Italy today. Officials shortened the race because of heavy snowfall and low visibility. Similar conditions forced the cancelation of the women's super-G today at Val d'Isere in France.
