(AP) — A 25-year-old player for the Kansas City Chiefs shot his girlfriend early today and then drove to Arrowhead Stadium where he turned a gun on himself as two team officials were confronting him. That's according to local police, who are not identifying the player or the condition of the two parties involved.

ATLANTA (AP) — This afternoon's SEC Championship game is a de facto national championship semifinal, with No. 2 Alabama facing third-ranked Georgia. The winner moves on to play Notre Dame in the BCS title game.
