(BaseballStL) -- With two on and two out in the bottom of the third Yadier Molina was called out on a close play at first. Molina slammed his helmet to the ground after the out and was immediately thrown out of the game by the first base umpire Clint Fagan.

It appeared that Molina did not realized he had not been tossed, however, and when he did he went back to the umpire.  Yadi's brother and first base coach Bengie Molina tried holding the Cardinals catcher back long enough for manager Mike Matheny to get to the scene.

Matheny got into it with the umpire while trying to hold back an increasingly agitated and physical Molina. Moments later, Matheny was ejected as well.

Replays show that the play at first was close, but Molina was out.
