JUPITER, Fla. - Cardinals manager Mike Matheny was happy to learn that relief pitcher Fernando Salas was not involved in a bench-clearing brawl between Mexico and Canada during the World Baseball Classic on Saturday.

Matheny examined video replays of the brawl to look for Salas.

"I was happy to see Salas wasn't on the ground," Matheny said. "I was looking for him and making sure he wasn't hurt or hurting. He was doing the right thing, just grabbing people."

Mexico was eliminated from the tournament Saturday and Matheny said he expects Salas to rejoin the club in the next day or two.

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina and outfielder Carlos Beltran advanced to the next round of the WBC with Team Puerto Rico. They will play in Miami beginning on Tuesday night.

"I'm happy for them," Matheny said. "I know it's a big deal."
