ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – It isn’t about making it to his first All-Star Game for David Freese as much as it is about another guy who will be there.
"For me, it's not about going to the All-Star Game," Freese told MLB.com’s Mark Newman. "It's about playing for Tony La Russa one more time."
The main reason La Russa is coaching the NL All-Star squad is because of Freese’s clutch hitting in last year’s World Series – and he knows it.
On Thursday, La Russa (@TonyLaRussa) tweeted “To manage in WS and #ASG it's because of a team full of stars. @dfreese23 shined the brightest.”
Freese will now get the chance to shine bright alongside fellow teammates Yadier Molina, Rafael Furcal and Lance Lynn during next week’s All-Star Game in Kansas City.
