Jupiter, FL (BaseballStL) -- I talked at length Friday with former Cardinal Jim Edmonds who’s here in Jupiter as an instructor. The former gold glover is happy to still be imparting his knowledge of the game on others but isn’t sure if he’ll ever really get back into the game full time. He just wants to spend the most time he can with his family and can’t guarantee he’ll coach or manage at any point.

Which Cards centerfielder was the best? Share your thoughts.

What Edmonds can guarantee is that he’ll do whatever he can to work with the outfielders in camp so they can get better. Edmonds is big on not overstepping his bounds. He doesn’t want to act like he’s in charge or running the show because he knows he’s not. So he’s just here in uniform to work with them and providing whatever he can.

Edmonds is, however, very impressed with Cards CF Jon Jay. He thinks he’s already a tremendous player and is only going to get better. He thinks he’s the type of guy that just wants to continue to grow and learn.

That’s a great recipe for success.
