ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) -- Chris Carpenter will be on the bump for the Birds today as the Washington Nationals host their first playoff game in franchise history.

Game 3 of the National League Divisional Series gets underway just after Noon. The game can only be seen on the MLB Network, but you can follow the game on KMOV.com and the BaseballStL mobile app.

The best of five series is tied up at one game apiece after Cardinal sluggers smacked the Nats around in a lopsided 12-4 win in St. Louis.

Carpenter, who missed most of the season because of surgery, joined the club on Sept. 21 and turned in three starts. He was 4-0 in the playoffs last year with the Cards when they won the World Series.

Edwin Jackson, who pitched for the Cardinals last year, will start for Washington. He is the only member of the Nationals pitching staff who has prior playoff experience. He was roughed up by St. Louis for nine runs in 1 1/3 innings of work on September 28.
