(BaseballStL) -- The St. Louis Cardinals might need to send out a search party to find their missing offense after it stumbled again in a 9-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.

After racking up three runs on 14 hits in a series sweep by the Atlanta Braves this weekend, the Cardinals fell flat scoring two runs on seven hits in the series opener with Pittsburgh.

Pirates starter Francisco Liriano sat down the first 10 Cardinals batters faced and struck out eight in seven innings pitched. He allowed only run on four hits.

What is the problem with the Cardinals? Share your thoughts.

Allen Craig and David Freese might be struggling the most of the Cardinals bats during this rut. Craig finished Monday 0-for-4 with three strike outs and is hitless in his last 17 at-bats. Freese finished 0-for-2 with a walk and is 1-for-12 on the road trip, including hitless in his last nine at-bats.

The Cardinals batting average during this road trip is a lowly .169 and the team has combined to strike out 32 times in the four games.
