Cards' Freese loses control, strikes tree in Wildwood

WILDWOOD, Mo. (KMOV) – The St. Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series MVP was not injured when he struck a tree in Wildwood on Thursday afternoon.

Police said third baseman David Freese was trying to avoid hitting a deer on Wildhorse Creek and Rieger Roads when he lost control of his Range Rover and left the roadway around 2:30 p.m.

Freese was not injured and walked away from the scene. No other cars were involved in the accident.

Authorities said alcohol was not a factor in this accident.

No further investigations will take place.
