CINCINNATI (BaseballStL) -- Injured first baseman Lance Berkman, who last played on May 19, could return to the Cardinals lineup against the Reds on Saturday.

Berkman is coming off surgery on his right knee and traveled with the team to Cincinnati for a three-game series.

According to Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, manager Mike Matheny needs to see more of Berkman in his workouts before activating the slugger for the second time this season; he was previously on the DL for a hamstring injury.  Matheny did acknowledge that Berkman will play sometime during the six-game road trip.

Berkman is hitting .333 with a home run and 4 RBIs in 13 games played this season.
