JOPLIN, Mo. -- Some members of the St. Louis Cardinals were in Joplin, Missouri Monday to build homes for some victims of a devastating tornado that ripped through the area last year.

Among those that made the trip were (left to right) General Manager John Mozeliak, manager Mike Matheny, hitting coach Mark McGwire, and President Bill DeWitt III.

They talked with new home owner Sharon Brumley as they helped build a new home for her and four other families in the tornado-ravaged city.

The Cardinals, like all sports teams in Missouri, are participating in the Governor's Challenge for Habitat for Humanity. They are helping rebuild some of the 7,000 homes lost in the May 2011 tornado.

The Cardinals are building five homes in one day.
