SAN FRANCISCO (BaseballStL) -- It came as no surprise to what Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong was able to do in Game 2 against the Cardinals.  What was surprising is that he was even better in Game 5.

Unprepared.  Ridiculous.  Silly.  Any of those words could describe the way the Cardinals looked against Vogelsong on Sunday night, six days prior to when the team last faced him.

The Cardinals in the meantime did not seem to do a whole lot of film studying from his Game 2 start when he allowed only one run on four hits and two walks in seven innings pitched in a 7-1 Giants win.

One of the Cardinals who got a hit in that game, Matt Holliday, was scratched shortly before first pitch in Game 6.

The Cardinals were finally able to get a hit off Vogelsong with two outs in the fifth inning.

Vogelsong’s final stat line: 7 innings pitched, 4 hits, 1 (earned) run, 1 walk, career-high 9 strikeouts
