(KMOV) --- He can’t be this good. Nobody’s this good. David Ortiz is hitting .733 after five games of the World Series. He’s 11 for 15, and could be 12 for 15. He was robbed of a grand slam by Carlos Beltran in Game 1.

Ortiz says this hot streak is really nothing new for him. He had stretches like this through the regular season. “I did it like 20 times this year,” said Ortiz. “I’m being honest. I was born for this.”

The growing questions being asked of the Cardinals, are why are you still pitching to Ortiz? Haven’t you seen enough at this point? The rest of the Boston lineup hasn’t done much, why continue to let Big Papi deliver big hits?

Adam Wainwright said he refuses to be intimidated. “I’m not pitching around Ortiz,’” Wainwright said before giving up a first inning rbi double to Ortiz in Game 5. “’I’m going to get him out.’”

That plan didn’t work so well.

It’s clear Mike Matheny has instructed his pitchers to challenge Ortiz. Michael Wacha’s next up. Wacha gave up a 2-run homer to Ortiz in Game 2, and will face him again in Game 6, this time with the Cardinals facing elimination.

“I’m going to try to minimize the mistakes,” said Wacha. “Get those outs instead of homeruns.”

Might be wise to let somebody other than Ortiz try to hit the home run. Can the Cardinals really afford to continue to challenge Papi? Probably not, if they hope to win the next two at Fenway Park.
