(BaseballStL) -- Joe Kelly was born in Anaheim, California and attended many games at Dodgers Stadium as a kid. On Wednesday, he’ll have family and friends in the stands watching him pitch against the Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLCS.
Kelly pitched the first game of this series and went 6 innings, gave up 6 hits and 2 runs, and struck out 5. He got a no decision in the Cardinals 13 inning victory.
“They know what I got, and I know what they got,” said Kelly. “It’s just going to be about executing pitches. There’s a couple times this year I faced teams back to back times. It’s just about making pitches. I’m not going to go out there and be a different pitcher.”
Kelly is well known as a “free spirit”, and a guy who loves to have a good time around the ballpark. Not surprisingly, he says the over-the-top antics of the Dodgers Yasiel Puig don’t bother him at all. “It’s the playoffs. It’s an exciting time,” said Kelly. “Every other sport celebrates. I’ve had a lot of energy. You’re just having fun out there.”
