ATLANTA (BaseballStL) -- St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Skip Schumaker is likely heading to the DL if what he fears may be true.

Schumaker told reporters following Wednesday’s 10-7 loss to the Atlanta Braves that he believes he pulled his hamstring when tracking down a ball in the outfield during the sixth inning.  He felt a pull after debating whether or not to dive for a ball hit by Jack Wilson.

It would mark the second time this season that Schumaker would be placed on the DL if the MRI comes back bearing bad news.  He began the season on the DL with an oblique strain.

If the news is bad, the Cardinals will likely activate Allen Craig, who is set to return Friday, to the Major League roster in place of the injured Schumaker.

Schumaker is hitting .321 in 29 games played in 2012.
