(BaseballSTL) -- Former Cardinal Albert Pujols interviewed with Fox Sports’ Jon Paul Morosi on Wednesday, spending a lot of time talking about the positives in his 11 years playing in St. Louis.
Pujols said he still talks to several current Cardinals players, and told Morosi the city still remains a huge part of his life.
But that didn’t stop him from voicing his displeasure with the Cardinals brass on how he believes they handled negotiations before he departed for the Los Angeles Angels on a 10-year, $240 million deal.
“I think the only thing I’m bitter about is the way the front office handled it a little bit. I think they should have handled it a little better. I’m bitter about that,” Pujols told Morosi. “They tried to make me look like I was a bad guy. But that’s OK. I’m a big boy. Besides that, I also understand there’s nothing I can do. Even if I could take it back, I’m happy where I am right now. My goal is to focus and concentrate on what I need to do to help this ballclub win.”
Pujols wouldn’t go into further detail.
“They know what they did. I don’t need to talk about that.”
