(BaseballStL) -- One day after collecting four RBIs in a 6-3 over the I-70 rival Kansas City Royals, catcher Yadier Molina was given the night off on Tuesday.

Tony Cruz was called upon to catch rookie Tyler Lyons in his second career start.

Molina has appeared in 49 of the team’s first 50 games, including 48 starts, while posting a .346 average with three home runs and 27 RBI. On the recent eight-game road trip, which ends Tuesday, Molina has hit .435 (10-for-23) with a home run and seven RBI.

Pete Kozma was also given the night off. Daniel Descalso started at shortstop.

Matt Adams started his second consecutive game at first base, with Matt Holliday as the designated hitter and Allen Craig in left field.
