(BaseballStL) -- The New York Mets placed reliever Scott Atchison on the 15-day disabled list due to inflammation in his elbow one day after failing to record an out in a 6-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Atchison allowed three hits, including a two-run home run to Matt Holliday, in a three-run seventh inning on Monday night.

The rough outing was nothing new for Atchison, who has allowed one run in five of his last seven appearances. He has a 4.50 earned run average in 18 innings pitched this season.

The Mets added pitcher Collin McHugh from Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas. McHugh posted a 3-2 record with a 2.74 ERA in eight starts at the Pacific Coast League this year.
