(BaseballStL) -- Matt Carpenter, in his first at bat takes Matt Cain deep to right field to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.

Carpenter entered the game after starting right fielder Carlos Beltran was pulled after the first inning with a strained knee.  Beltran apparently hurt his knee after hitting into a double play.

With John Jay on second and two outs, Carpenter worked a 2-2 count then took Cain deep.  It is Carpenter's first at-bat and hit of the NLCS.
