(KMOV.com) -- The man who snatched the game winning home run ball hit by David Freese gave the ball back to the hometown hero, but got way more in return.
David Huyette said he remembers hearing the crack of the bat and then noticing that the ball may land near him. The area he called the "grassy knoll" or "the place you're not supposed to go." He said he knew if the ball was a homerun, it would land in that area, so he just started running.
Huyette was able to meet the whole team after the game. There, he gave the ball back to David Freese. He said it was the honorable thing to do.
In return, Huyette got an autographed bat from David Freese and a baseball autographed by the whole team. Huyette said his only regret is not asking for tickets to game seven of the World Series. In his own words he stated, "I dropped the ball. I should have asked."
