ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) -- Starter Lance Lynn will have a chance to become the league's first ten-game winner when he takes the mound against the White Sox on Wednesday.
Lynn is coming off a dominant performance against the Astros when he struck out a career-high eleven batters over six inning in a 14-2 win on June 7. It was the first time any Cardinals pitcher had double-digit strikeouts this season.
The hard-throwing righty is 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA at home this season and will be countered by the White Sox's Jake Peavy.
The oft-injured Peavy has been remarkable this season posting a 6-1 record with a 3.05 ERA in 12 starts. He has also been dominant during interleague play throughout his career posting a 14-8 record with a 2.89 ERA.
Peavy, who was named AL Pitcher of the Month for April, received a no-decision in his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays after allowing three runs and a season-high five walks in a 4-3 Chicago win.
The right-hander is 3-3 with a 3.20 ERA in nine starts against the Cardinals.
The game is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
