KANSAS CITY (BaseballStL) – Former big league slugger Jose Canseco thinks he still has what it takes to win the Home Run Derby.
Canseco, who is now more notorious for his off-the-field career than his baseball, tweeted on Monday that he thinks he can win the Home Run Derby.
“I would win the MLB homerun derby tonight if I was given chance” - @JoseCanseco
It is doubtful that Canseco, who admitted to steroid use during his major league career, would be able to compete with the likes of Prince FieldeR and Carlos Beltran in this year’s derby considering the only gig the 48-year-old has is with the Worcester Tornadoes of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball (no offense).
To his credit, Canseco hit 462 home runs during his 17-year career which included being named the 1994 AL Comeback Player of the Year.
