(BaseballStL) -- Jake Westbrook has announced his retirement. Westbrook says there wasn't enough interest in him on the free agent market to make it worth going through the grind of another season and being away from his family.

Westbrook spent 13 seasons in the major leagues, the last three and half with the Cardinals. In 2013 he was 7-8 with a 4.63 ERA. He won a World Series ring with the Cards in 2011, and also with the New York Yankees in 2000.

For his career, Westbrook was 105-103 with a 4.32 ERA. That was good enough for him to make more than $70 million dollars according to Baseball Reference.
