ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – Plate discipline.  It is something every big leaguer has been told to have if they want to succeed in the majors.  Well, it wasn’t exhibited by the Cardinals hitters in the five-pitch fourth inning against Astros pitcher Fernando Abad.

The Cardinals made Abad look ‘a-good’ that inning by making two outs on the first pitch.  Abad was tacked for two more runs in the next inning after throwing 16 pitches to five hitters.

Abad struck out a career-high six batters and allowed six hits in five innings pitched.
