MILWAUKEE (BaseballStL) – Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday was taken out of Tuesday’s game after being hit by a pitch in the first inning.

Holliday, who has a 15 game hit streak, left the game due to a “left thigh contusion.”  The hit streak will stay intact because his only plate appearance was not an official at-bat.  He is 23-for-59 (.390) during the hit streak and has raised his batting average from .215 to .317 since May 1.

Jon Jay replaced Holliday and had an RBI double to tie the game in the third inning in his first plate appearance.
