(BaseballStL) – After nearly taking his leg off in Game 2 of the NLCS, Cardinals’ left fielder Matt Holliday gestured and then mouthed words across the diamond to Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro.

The exchange came during the pre-game introductions as the Cardinals lined up along the first base line. Scutaro and the Giants were standing on the third base line.

Holliday tried to break up a double play by crashing into Scutaro in the first inning of Game 2. Following the incident Scutaro told the media that he didn’t believe Holliday was out to hurt him. Scutaro suffered a strained hip on the play.
