ST.LOUIS (BaseballStL) – It is highly unlikely that shortstop Rafael Furcal (elbow) or starting pitcher Jaime Garcia (shoulder) will undergo offseason surgery, according to general manager John Mozeliak.

Furcal, who has been out since August, is expected to throw for the first time in November.

Mozeliak says the team will “hold our breath a little bit” in regards to Garcia’s injury.  He also noted that Garcia is progressing and will keep tabs on his progress throughout the offseason.

Garcia last pitched October 8 against the Nationals, but lasted only two innings in the start.
