ST. LOUIS (BaseballStL) – The newest member of the National League All-Star team thanked the fans for their Final Vote on where else -- but Twitter.

David Freese received 8.4 million votes overall including those from the first-ever Twitter vote.  A total of 50 million votes were casted in a four-hour span on Twitter for the finalists of the Final Vote who each had their own designated hashtag on Thursday.  The leading Twitter vote-getter was Braves outfielder Michael Bourn (#VoteBourn) followed by Freese (#FreesePlease).

On Thursday afternoon, Freese (@dfreese23) tweeted “#Cardinalnation‬ what can I say... beast mode! U all went to town for me. Thank u so much! To join such great company in KC is such an honor.”

Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish was the winner in the Final Vote for the American League.
