(BaseballStL) -- A solo home run in the second inning against the Chicago Cubs extended Allen Craig’s hit streak to six games on Tuesday.

The home run, along with the hit streak, continued a growing trend for Craig after a powerless April when he batted only .263 with no home runs despite 18 runs batted in. In six games played this month, Craig has blasted two home runs and is 10-for-26 at the plate.

Craig has been a nightmare for Cubs starter Travis Wood in his career. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound first baseman has roughed up Wood to the tune of five hits, including two home runs, in 13 at-bats.

Craig is 1-for-1 in his career against Wednesday’s starter Carlos Villanueva.
