(BaseballStL) -- It's still unclear exactly what happened to upset former Cardinal and current Brewers pitcher Kyle Lohse.  He won't say.  But something definitely happened around the time Pete Kozma scored Jon Jay on a squeeze bunt in the fourth inning.  And it got Lohse to have some words with his former team.

"They know.  They know what I had to say.  It had nothing to do with the squeeze.  It was something that happened after that," Lohse said.

"Honestly, I have no idea (what happened)," Pete Kozma said.  "I saw him lip something to the dugout.  I've never seen anything phase him like it did today."

"It's just competition that's all," said manager Mike Matheny.

"I'm not getting into any of that.  I don't really know the whole story," continued David Freese.

Lohse continued to insist the squeeze play by shortstop Pete Kozma did not bother him.

"That's a good play.  If he knows he can't get a hit there that's a good baseball play," he said. "It was just after that. I'll just leave it at that. They know. They know."

What happened afterwards was Lohse throwing three pitches inside to Cardinals starter John Gast.  But Lohse had already seemed to be fuming by that point.  The former Cardinal said some words to third base coach Jose Oquendo as he walked off the field at the end of the fourth inning.

What's done is done.  We may never know exactly what happened between Lohse and his team of five seasons from 2008 to 2012.
