ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- The St. Louis Cardinals will finally break ground on the seven-block Ballpark Village on Friday.

The team announced the groundbreaking ceremony will officially commence at 11 a.m. on the construction site located next to Busch Stadium.

Among those in attendance will be Cardinals Chairman and CEO bill Dewitt Jr., Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III and Blake Cordish, vice president of development for Cordish Company.

On Jan. 30, the team and development partner Cardish Company announced they closed on financing for the construction of the $100 million first phase of the village.

The first phase of the project, which is expected to be complete by Opening Day 2014, will include the construction of 100,000 sq. feet of retail and entertainment space along Clark St. next to Busch Stadium.

The first phase will also include the streets, parking and site infrastructure to support the remaining phases of the seven-block $700 million project.

Cardinals Nation, Budweiser Brew House, and Live! at Ballpark Village will anchor the initial phase.

Cardinals Nation, a venue totaling over 30,000 square feet on three levels, will include a two-story restaurant, a Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum and a 300-plus seat seating deck with views into Busch Stadium.

A second building will house a 20,000 square foot two-story Anheuser-Busch venue with a rooftop deck with a view into Busch Stadium.
