(BaseballStL) -- The St. Louis Cardinals did the lineup shuffle for Tuesday’s series opener against the Houston Astros.

Mike Matheny did the shuffle with the intention to kickstart Matt Holliday, who batted fifth in the order after being hitless in his previous 11 at-bats. In addition, Holliday was the designated hitter for the second time this season.

Holliday was replaced by Carlos Beltran in third slot of the batting order while Yadier Molina moved up to hit second.

The lineup shuffled seemed to jolt the Cardinals offense as every starter, except for Jon Jay, recorded a hit in the 13-5 win. Holliday went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Overall, the team went 15-for-42 with three home runs and four walks.
