(BaseballStL) -- That day in spring training when Yadier Molina announced Michael Wacha was ready for the Major Leagues, I'm not sure even the catcher could have predicted Wacha would be doing what he's doing.

Yet after a strong six innings start against the Red Sox in Boston, Molina can only think of one word to describe the young star pitcher.

"Amazing," Molina said. "He kept us in the game.  That's what we asked for.  He gave us a chance to win.  He did a great job for us (in Game 2)."

"I guess it's expected now," David Freese said. "Man, he's just a great talent. He works his tail off.  I think he soaks it all in and he obviously enjoys the moment."

Wacha is just one of many young talented pitchers the Cardinals have.  Carlos Martinez and Trevor Rosenthal did combine for three shutout innings in Game 2, striking out six between them.

"You look around the clubhouse and you look at the veteran guys obviously with all the talent that we have and they have experience.  There's a lot of guys on this team that have been to the World Series so it's really nice to be able to pick their brains and also look back on the successes they've had and have the confidence that we're going to be able to repeat that."
