Cardinals make three cuts, trim spring roster to 40

JUPITER, Fla. - Infielder Ryan Jackson was among three cuts made by the Cardinals following Sunday's game, trimming their spring roster to 40 with two weeks remaining before the start of the regular season.
 
Jackson and right-handed pitcher Keith Butler were optioned to Triple-A Memphis while left-handed pitcher John Gast was reassigned to Triple-A.
 
The Cardinals must get their roster down to 25 prior to Opening Day April 1 in Arizona. They have 15 cuts remaining.
