(BaseballStL) -- Beltran told me today that he signed as a free agent with the Cardinals because he believes they have a great chance to get back to the post-season.

He says he feels no pressure to replace the offensive numbers of Albert Pujols. Beltran has had some health issues in the past, but says he feels great now. He thinks he'll be the everyday rightfielder, but would also be comfortable playing in centerfield occasionally.

Allen Craig is also in the outfield mix. Craig has off season knee surgery and hasn't been clear for baseball actitivies yet. He spends his days doing aggressive rehab on his knee. Craig says his goal is to be ready by opening day, but right now he's not even able to swing a bat or run.
