(BaseballSTL) -- While the Cardinals continue to wait on the status of Allen Craig’s sprained left foot, the first base position has been in good hands thanks to the power bat of Matt Adams.
After his hot hitting weekend in Milwaukee, Adams continues to terrorize Brewers pitching. Adams is hitting .412 against the Brewers this season, while completing a monster road trip in which he hit 2 long home-runs and drove in 5 RBI’s. Adams has driven in 10 runs against Milwaukee this season. The timing of Adams hot streak comes just in time, because Craig’s return from his foot injury continues to be a question mark.
Craig is expected to have his foot re-evaluated by the end of this week. Craig has missed 17 games, since getting injured on September 4th in Cincinnati. Craig was hitting .315 with 13 homers and 97 runs batted in. Craig was also leading the league in hitting with runners in scoring position. Meanwhile, Adams continues to swing a hot stick as the Redbirds head back to Busch for their final home stand of the season beginning with the Washington Nationals on Monday.
