ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Neither the St. Louis Blues nor the Olympic break were able to stop the NHL's best team. The Anaheim Ducks got an early goal from Andrew Cogliano, and it held up for a 1-0 victory. Jonas Hiller made 18 saves in his fifth shutout of the season. Earlier in the day, St. Louis acquired star goalie Ryan Miller in a five-player trade with Buffalo.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals brought their bats to play their spring training stadium co-tenants, the Texas Rangers. Mike Moustakas drove in three runs in the 11-1 Royals victory in Surprise, Ariz. Aces James Shield was perfect for an inning in his spring debut. Alexi Ogando gave up a two-run double to Moustakas in the second.

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — The defending National League champions weren't able to get anything going against last year's rookie of the year. Jose Fernandez struck out two in two scoreless innings. The Miami Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 in the spring opener for both teams.

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Don't count out Marcus Smart, or his Oklahoma State Cowboys, just yet. Smart's been a dominant force since returning from a three-game suspension for shoving a fan. If the Cowboys are able to upset No. 5 Kansas today, they would strengthen their once-fading NCAA tournament hopes.
